A question to the girls about shaving ''down there''?

hi girls im not sure about you ladies but when i shave down there i get those ingrown hair bumps. i know what to do to treat them when i get them and i use a clean razor every shave but my question is what can i do after i get done shaving to prevent these bumps from forming all together. should i rub some sort of lotion or vasline on the skin after shaving or idk i just need help! so please ladies give me your best advice!
