Ingrown toenail surgery...?

So i had an ingrown toenail removed this morning, and i've had them done a few times before. I was told to flush out the toe 3-4 times today, but as soon as it starts to stop throbbing, i have to flush it out and then it starts killing me again. So my question is, i have already flushed it out twice. Is it necessary to do it again? what will happen if i dont?
